PURE Youth Chicago

PURE Youth Chicago Projects The PURE Youth Chicago Chapter started in 2020 when a small group of high school students wanted to make an impact on their community. Since most of us went to the same school, we used that to our advantage to help spread awareness and collect donations for our projects. The Chicago Chapter has implemented many unique ways to raise money, many of which were connected to our cultural heritage. For example, for PURE Femme, we created and sold Holi gift baskets filled with colors, water guns, and other accessories to celebrate Holi.
PURE Youth Chicago will continue finding new causes to support and create unique, fun ways of spreading awareness. Projects Summer/Fall 2020: PURE Femme - Our first project was to raise money for PURE Femme, an organization dedicated to manufacturing sanitary napkins for young women in India. We raised money for this organization by creating badges with the Indian flag on them to celebrate India’s independence day, creating decorated plates for Diwali, and creating a GoFundMe for the project. Winter 2020: WINGS Item Drive and School Items Drive - Our second project was to specifically help the Chicago community. So we decided to collect food donations to a local domestic abuse shelter called WINGS and collect school items for our high schools. We collected food donations and school item donations by going door-to-door in multiple neighborhoods asking for food donations, setting up a donation box near our local library, and creating a GoFundMe for the project Spring 2021: Pure Femme - Our third project was to raise money for PURE Femme. Since this was our second time raising money for PURE Femme, we needed to think of new ways to fundraise. We raised money by creating and selling Holi Baskets, hosting a chess tournament, and creating a GoFundMe for the project Fall 2021: Cougars in Need - Our fourth project was to raise money for our school charity organization called Cougars in Need, which raises money, food drives, and other items for our school’s students who need them. To do so, we went door-to-door asking for food items and spread awareness across our community through flyers and social media. Team When we first started in 2020, there were only 4 people on our team. However, in 2021, after 2 successful projects, we were able to grow to 6 people. Everyone in our team is in high school, and 4 out of the 6 people go to the same school and live in the same neighborhood.
