PURE Youth Richmond

Richmond, VA

Pure Youth Richmond VA Chapter A chapter that believes in service at its true form Influenced by a number of active friends in Pure organization since its inception, our Mentor, Kavitha Pulluri has been a supporter of Pure through her friends for a long time. Finally, while waiting for the right time and after discussing with her daughters Krithi Vudu and Anishka Vudu, she decided to start the Richmond Chapter. She reached out to students who might be interested in the cause and was able to identify 6 students and establish the Chapter. It is with help from friends/parents of the ambassadors that Richmond Chapter was successfully able to finish 2 projects since our inception in June 2021. The chapter has 2 directors and 6 ambassadors. Krithi Vudu and Swara Pamidipati are the Directors of the Richmond Pure Chapter. Our group is 8 people ranging from grades 6-11.

Our chapter believes in the cause and how Youth can make a difference in people's lives while learning and growing to be better individuals. We are Pure Youth, Richmond Chapter. Projects 2021-2022 Summer 2021 - Family Fun Fundraiser - Support for Women in Uganda The Chapter ambassadors and families were very excited to organize and work for their first project. The team relentlessly planned and organized a family fundraiser event to socialize about Pure Youth and the cause we were supporting. - We planned for a mini carnival at a local park. Were able to raise money by pre selling the tickets through advertising in What’s App and through word of mouth. - Ticket prices included a pre prepared home made and packed food with 3 options (Fried Rice/Samosa, Noddles/Spring Rolls, Pasta/French Fries) to choose from along with mango lassi or lemonade. - We held a bake sale and soda sales at the carnival to raise additional funds. - Money raised was used to support Girls and Women who are economically disadvantaged. Sewing machines and expenses to run the training center were contributed using the funds raised. The event was a grand success and we are thankful to the Richmond community who were so excited to be part of it. We exceeded our target by 4 times all while the youth is learning how to help people in need with support from the local community. Fall 2021 - Diwali Sweet Sale - Afghan Refugee Support Another exciting and educative event for Pure Youth Richmond Chapter. A concept that was shared by our regional coordinator but very well planned and implemented by our chapter. - We hosted a Diwali Sweet Drive to raise money. Advertised through What’s app in friends and local communities and committed to deliver the sweets before the festival. - Team pre-sold the sweets and as part of delivery, we wrote thank you cards and hand delivered to people’s homes or offices, just in time to celebrate the festival. The sweets were picked up by team mentors from D.C. - We were able to raise twice what we targeted and are thankful to our community for trusting us. - We reached out to Commonwealth Catholic Charities who were helping Afghan refugees to reestablish themselves by providing necessary household stuff. - We were able to purchase 12 rice cookers and 8 blankets with money we were able to raise. We hand delivered these items and met with the program director. They were extremely thankful for the team's hard work and how team Pure is able to help the refugees. Again, another mission accomplished with great help from our community. Thankful for the opportunity and so much more to offer from our youth to the world outside in need.
