PURE Youth Mt.Olive

Mt.Olive, NJ

PURE Youth, a leadership program, specifically aims to facilitate discussion and awareness of the impact that education has on society through numerous projects and fundraising. PURE Youth also supports projects from all program areas and causes PURE champions which gives the ambassadors an opportunity to understand the depth and breadth of the issue, solution and impact on the lives they are helping change.

In 2021, a small youth team in Mount Olive had emerged. By encouraging neighboring children and peers, volunteer work was introduced to engage in the purpose of PURE Youth. The purpose being to initiate community service and inspiring others to do so.

The members started out with their first bake sale. They came together to create memories and experience the hard work needed to complete group projects. While also preparing the table, location, posters and baked goods, they learned about the importance of PURE’s feminine hygiene program.

Still small in size, their teamwork and creativity has grown exponentially. We have contributed to the holiday program in December by donating non-perishable foods to our local pantry and spreading joy by partnering with senior homes. We plan on continuing this momentum to the new year and only hope to motivate and learn with the people around us.

The PURE Youth Mt. Olive, NJ Chapter currently consists of ten volunteers. The chapter was founded in 2021 by a previous mentor, Manjula Chinthareddy, and a previous director, Varshini Chinthareddy, and has since expanded. PURE YOUTH is a non-profit that strives to support disadvantaged children. We have raised money to help provide female hygiene products and make education accessible to all children. Ambassadors raise funds for these causes, and while doing so they also learn about the difficulties present in our real-world, and methods that can be taken to solve these problems. PURE YOUTH ambassadors promote our mission to a worldwide audience, and keep learning along the way.

Chapter Info:

Some of our previous projects include bake sales to raise money for various organizations including the 11th Hour Rescue, Cure Breast Cancer Foundation, period poverty and clean water in impoverished areas in India. We have also made and given cards to our local fire department and raised items for our local food pantry. Through the planning, hard work, and determination from the Mt. Olive Chapter volunteers, we are able to allocate our time towards making the world a better place for both our own community and others.

Last year, Vaibhavi Borra, Siri Segu, Saanvi Borra, Monisha Devagiri, Niyati Lakkakula, and Hamsini Madhamanchi have all received certificates of appreciation from PURE and Niyati Lakkakula received a bronze presidential award for their time spent volunteering for PURE.

We presented the supplies and the money to the Eleventh Hour Rescue on August 13th.

We wished everyone happy holidays and were sure to show our appreciation.

Testimonials

By giving students the opportunity to engage in numerous projects and fundraising activities, PURE Youth aims to raise awareness of the impact of education on society. Besides its own projects and causes, PURE Youth supports a wide range of other initiatives as well. Taking part in this process allows the ambassadors to gain a deeper understanding of the issues, solutions, and impact they can have on the lives of the people they assist. The Mount Olive PURE Youth chapter carries out its purpose through the introduction of volunteer work to neighborhood children and peers. The Mount Olive Chapter aims to inspire others to become involved in community service. Having formed a year ago, the chapter held several bake sales to raise money and awareness for various causes such as feminine hygiene and accessible water resources. Creating memories is meaningful to them, as well as experiencing the tough work that is required for group projects to succeed. While setting up the table, choosing a location, making posters and baking goods, the ambassadors learn about the importance of working together as a team for a collective cause. As ambassadors, we come together to set goals and put them into action. The chapter continues to fight poverty and fight for education in order to improve the lives of all citizens around the globe!
- Monisha Devagiri

PURE has helped me to see the world in a different light. Originally, I joined PURE for the experience, to build leadership skills, and make a difference. Yet, I never realized how much making a difference for others also affected me. I discovered that putting in effort to raise money and awareness to help the less fortunate made me feel good. I feel proud to be a part of PURE and to be planning events and doing my best to change other people’s lives for the better. I have seen how much creating change and helping others has benefited the rest of my chapter too. Everyone is happy to come together to help, contribute their ideas and spend time as a group. Although our chapter is new, what we have done still amazes me. We have raised money for various local causes as well as money for villages in India and Kenya. Education is something that PURE strives to provide for the impoverished. Education is an integral part of today’s society and a human right. Some of the organizations we have raised money for or donated items to include the 11th Hour Rescue, the Mt. Olive Food Pantry, the Cure Breast Cancer Foundation, and Paragon Village. We have also raised money for feminine hygiene products and accessible water resources for villages in India and Kenya directly through PURE. Our chapter continues to spread awareness about our cause and what it stands for. Through the determination of our chapter I believe that we’ll be able to accomplish much more with PURE!

Starting my summer of 2022, I knew I wanted to be active in helping my community. I watched my friends take part in events around Mount Olive and organizing fundraisers, bake sales, and spreading kindness. I wanted to join in! This is when the directors introduced me to PURE. PURE is an organization consisting of kids! Since I joined, I began learning about kindness, friendship, and made it my top priority to be a good citizen of Mount Olive!
