PURE Youth Hopedale

Hopedale, MA

The Hopedale chapter started in January 2021. It was started by Sravya Lingam and Rohan Sunkara. Our group of family members heard about this Organization and wanted to start the first Massachusetts chapter. We began with 6 Ambassadors and currently have 11.

PURE Youth is a leadership program that focuses on facilitating discussion and increasing awareness about the influence of education on society via various projects and fundraisers.

Additionally, PURE Youth supports initiatives across all program areas and issues that PURE promotes, enabling ambassadors to grasp the breadth and depth of the problem, solution, and effect on the lives they are assisting in changing.

In December of 2020, motivated by the work of the San Antonio PURE Youth Community, a mentor and a director proceeded to create a chapter for the Boston Metro area. The team leveraged their positive dynamics and made a powerful impact right away, and is particularly proud of the success of their first project, which included selling festive dinner baskets on the occasion of Sankranti, a major Indian festival. Everyone commended the team's efforts, and the enthused team continued to work on more projects, thus allowing the ambassadors to hone their leadership and communication skills.

This chapter aims to make its presence felt in the Boston region, recruit more ambassadors, develop innovative fundraising projects, and focus on understanding the causes and becoming true advocates.

Testimonials

Hello, My name is Hrithvik. This is my second year doing PURE Youth since I started as an ambassador in June 2021. I decided to join PURE because I wanted to make a difference in my local communities by helping the needy while using my privileges and ideas. So far, I've learned that PURE isn't just where you help others, but it's also where you can bring out your creativity and mind and put them to good use. I know that PURE is somewhere I can succeed because in this last year and a half, I have got to work with new people, share my thoughts and ideas, and participate in projects like raffles, basket-making, and fundraisers.

My name is Teja. I have been with PURE since the beginning of our chapter in January 2021 (2 years). Initially, I joined PURE Youth as it provided me with a unique opportunity to develop my leadership skills, while also allowing me to give back to my community and those in need in more ways than one. However, as I gained more exposure and our chapter began to expand, I realized that PURE was bigger than a service organization. It was a space where I could foster new relationships that would help me and guide me both during and after our projects. For example, during our recent Bahubali Thali project, I was able to not only truly embrace a leadership role without the guidance of our directors, but also step out of my comfort zone and make connections with new ambassadors and others not in our chapter. On the surface, PURE Youth seems like a service organization that only allows ambassadors to give back to their communities. However, as someone that has been with the organizations for over two years, it truly enhances critical life skills and prepares individuals for the real world.

Hi my name is Surya. I have been in PURE for two years since June 2021. I joined PURE because I wanted to help people in need and actually influence how we are going to do that. I enjoy having a voice in our decisions and being able to see my work come to life. PURE has helped me learn that while the work we do seems serious, it is also fun to be able to come together as a team and execute our projects. For example, our two raffle projects were an extremely fun way to combine helping those in need with an enjoyable experience of collecting and drawing the tickets. PURE has helped me realize how grateful I am to have the resources I need and also giving me an opportunity to provide them to people who don’t have them.
