PURE Youth Clarksburg
Maryland
PURE Youth, a leadership program, specifically aims to facilitate discussion and awareness of the impact that education has on society through numerous projects and fundraising. PURE Youth also supports projects from all program areas and causes PURE champions which gives the ambassadors an opportunity to understand the depth and breadth of the issue, solution and impact on the lives they are helping change.
The Clarksburg MD branch was founded in September 2018, by director Megha Jasti along with co director Kavi Daliparti. They started the chapter after seeing the poor conditions of schools in India and wanted to help the children learn better. In the past two years, they raised over $2500 for various causes. In May 2019, the team focused on helping a school run by PURE, to lift street children and their families out of poverty.
In September 2019, they focused on getting a water filter, books, benches, and various basic school essentials for a run-down school in Nirmal, India. During that project, they learned about a cause called the Little Free Pantry, which helps low-income families recover and involves the community in the process. Currently, they are going to start fundraising to start their own Little Free Pantry in an at-risk community. They have constantly partnered with the Clarksburg Church, by working with them at the Clarksburg 5K, and at other small events around the community.
